We attended the Dynamic Centre annual picnic last evening. It was lighthearted and fun, and had all the elements of true community. And because we arrived early, we had the chance to see it come together before our eyes. There were busy hands hanging balloons, decorating tables, preparing platters of appetizing and delicious food. The community arrived in random fashion carrying some additional home baked goods, games, chairs, musical instruments and the variety of paraphernalia required to feed and entertain a robust group happy to spend the evening together outdoors. There was a real sense of connection.
Observing the dynamic of the group, as each savored a hearty dinner and dessert, and then lingered to share life and personal stories, we became aware that we were witnessing the heartbeat of the Dynamic Centre that drew these fun people together. It became clear to us that people connect for a variety of reasons around shared ideals and the chance to participate and be heard as they discover how their own purpose relates to the expressed ideals of the larger group. The needs and desires of any community evolve over time. Many at the picnic have been a part of the community since it began more than six years ago – others have joined at various stages and found a home at the Dynamic Centre. We continue to grow together and find the experience mutually satisfying. As we become more aware of our identity as a group, how do you, as a regular, interested, contributing member, see the next step we can take together? ¨ If you enjoyed the picnic, what ideas would you like to see explored for more group recreational activities? And at what level are you likely to help make this happen? ¨ What other suggestions do you have for deepening your sense of belonging to the community so you can feel more firmly rooted – more committed to live the practice? ¨ Are there any specific ways the Centre community can add support to its members in identifying or living their life purpose? ¨ Do you have gifts and talents that you would like to share with the Dynamic Centre community and have not yet had the chance to do so? As we continue to grow together, we have an opportunity to dialogue where we see ourselves today, and how we see ourselves evolving in the future.
We look forward to having your input. Thanks, Mary and Austin |
